Redefining What Makes a Campaign Viral from PSFK.com. Tap into the identities of your consumers to access their personal motivations for sharing. Is that something new? seems obvious.
The Future of Fashion is Recycling the Past, But Is It Good Business? from PSFK.com. According to these somewhat high-end vintage/consignment businesses out of NYC, yes it is good business.

wearing live plants
Wearing live plants as accessories is extremely fascinating to me. I was first introduced to the concept from a couple of Ecouterre posts featuring a moss stole, succulents on shoes, breathable purses that can carry plants, and a variety of live jewelry. Conceptually, it is strikingly beautiful and given my deep love of plants, I would jump at the chance of living out my inner forest nymph. I...

Style Gourmand introduced me to a cool snappy video from GretaGuide putting sustainable fashion into an urgent cultural context. It’s got great interviews and soundbites from some big wigs in the burgeoning industry.
From gretagirlguide:
For the past 4-5 months I have been engrossed in all of the hard work that goes into writing a dissertation. Today was the day I revealed and defended...

North Carolina State University Textiles Library →
The New Books section of the NCSU Textiles Library is pretty fascinating. I would check out the first three listed for today: Adobe Photoshop for Fashion Design, How India Clothed the World: the world of South Asian Textiles, 1500-1850, and Ethics in the Fashion Industry.

Ethical Fashion structure and strategy from the...
If I were to start my own ethical fashion business, I think taking cues from the International Trade Centre’s Africa Inspires program would be a good way to start. ITC is the joint agency of UNCTAD and the WTO. “ITC enables small business export success in developing countries by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive trade development ...

Despite my previous post, I reverse my decision to shop there. They are still a wasteful company, regardless of the newly issued PR statement to stop throwing cut-up clothes on the street and donate them to charity.
H&M's Organic and Sustainable Collection--a reason... →
I’d given up on H&M a long time ago. I haven’t bought anything from there in years. Mass produced trend fashion isn’t appealing to me when I try to be conscious of wasteful fashion production. Plus, a lot of the stuff looks cheaply made and doesn’t last long. However, Refinery29.com reports that H&M is actually introducing a sustainable collection…and it...

The Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, IN is a wonderful museum of Native American and Western Art. It also happens to be the place where my wedding will take place in September. Over the holiday, we checked it out and they have a great exhibit of the recipients of the Eiteljorg Fellowship for Native American Fine Art. My favorite artist featured is Wendy Red Star. She has this beautiful neon...

Kanthas at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
The first exhibit of Kanthas presented outside of South Asia is on display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Perelman Building. What struck me, besides the beauty of the pieces, was that they were made from remnant fabrics. The thread and fabric were taken from old saris and other garments.
Another interesting thing of note was that the kanthas provided transfer of knowledge and...
